Sunflowers always speak to me of joy ,pairing one with a sweet, cheerful little bluebird just seemed perfect- the bluebird of happiness!
A colorful watercolor rendition in a slightly impressionist style. I've taken to a freer style letting or directing the paint and colors to flow while still maintaining the essence of the subject,not quite abstract but definitely not realistic- imagination is important to me both in the painting process and the viewing process.
Bluebirds are a small variety of thrush, with a plump body, long wings but fairly short legs and tail,large eyes and rounded head. The Eastern bluebird is the state bird of New York . The live in open areas ,meadows etc . They catch insects by dropping down on them from wherever they were perched or eat berries in the winter. They nest in nest boxes or old woodpecker holes.
