***FAA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED PRINTS***
Dancing Leaves and Lace is a striking, decorative abstract display of falling autumn leaves done in overlapping layers of watercolor.I then used dried leaves as stamps in some areas and finally applied several stems of dried Queen Anne's Lace. Queen Anne's Lace is one of my favorite wildflowers and one of the last seen here in the fall. My grandchildren delight in bringing me gifts of leaves and wildflowers which we dry for various uses.
"Autumn is a second Spring,When every leaf is a flower" Albert Camus
MAPLE LORE: 1)Settlers in North America would put maple leaves at the foot of their beds to ward off evil and demons, and also to promote peaceful sleep,as well as sexual pleasures 2)Maple branches were used as divining rods in England to help find sources of water. 3)Children were passed through the branches of a maple tree to ensure a long life. 4) Maple is the symbol of lovers - especially in China and Japan.
Native Americans taught the first European settles how to harvest the sap of the sugar maples. They called the maple sugar, "Indian sugar"
