This is a mixed media piece done in crayon.acrylic and ink (there was some ironing involved too!) An artist friend of mine told me about doing this over the phone and I had to try it - what she didn't tell me was that she did very small pieces - 2"-3" - not full sheets of paper! It was a lot of work getting the crayon colors to intensely cover the paper for the first step (especially with arthritis). But it was fun to do and I'll definitely try it again and maybe add some stamping or collage as well. I love to play with new techniques and the end product here is so very different than how it looked before the ironing stage - the colors and the whole feel of the piece changed.
I love the colors of autumn but wanted to add a little extra color - life is so much more enjoyable when you step outside the box on occasion.
I have been painting and crafting ever since I can remember. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques in watercolor, and mixing watercolor with other mediums. Painting is a meditation to me - it brings me peace and joy.,and has been a healing therapy since I became disabled. I love sharing my art with my grandchildren and inspiring others to try their hand at painting!
