Description
Chasing Red Tailed Hawk- depicts two crows (or ravens) chasing a red-tailed hawk. They do this to protect their territory and defend their nests and young from the hawks.
The red-tailed hawk is a bird of prey which breeds throughout most of North America, from Alaska and northern Canada to as far south as Panama and the West Indies. ( Wikipedia)
Adult red-tailed hawks have few predators. Great horned owls and crows will prey on red-tailed hawk eggs and nestlings. Owls and red-tailed hawks compete for nest sites, with both birds being known to kill the babies or destroy the eggs of the other in attempting to take over a nest site.
