Description
Amethyst, rose quartz and citrine crystals and pyramids surround a pristine lake emanating healing energy.Three butterflies enjoy the peaceful scene.
Crystal Lake was a special place from my childhood - I often think of the peaceful hours I spent there at a summer camp - it looked nothing like this!. This image just popped into my mind one day and I needed to paint it! I have also collected and hunted for crystals (and pretty much any rocks) most of my life.I meet my husband on a camping trip with friends to dig for Herkimer Diamonds in Herkimer,N.Y.
Amethyst is a beautiful crystalline quartz that comes in varying shades of purple.
"An amethyst is a sometimes transparent mineral that comes from quartz. It is a type of rock. It is valued because of its violet colour. Even though it is from quartz, it has more iron oxide (Fe2O3) than any other kind of quartz.[1] Because of this, some experts think that its colour comes from the iron in it.[1] Heating the amethyst either takes away its colour or changes it to a yellow color. Amethysts are found in Brazil, Uruguay, Ontario, and North Carolina. The rock amethyst is the birthstone of the month February."
"Many people believe amethysts protect one from poison, evil, and getting drunk.[2] This is where the name of this rock came from, the Greek word amethustos, meaning "without being drunken". Also they are thought to be good for hearing, recovering from headaches, good dreams, and more. Some catholic popes also wear it around their necks.[3] Also, some roman women thought gems could keep their husbands faithful to them."
"Amethysts are also worn because people think it makes them look gentle.[3] The powers in the amethyst also includes healing, peace, love, more spirituality, courage, protection from robbers, and happiness.[3]
In the Mohs scale, it is included as the number seven.[3]"
"The amethyst is very famous for being one of the main gemstones of Christianity and Catholicism.[4] Some catholic popes wear amethysts around their necks because they think it makes them look pious and more holy. Also in Christianity, the Bible says about a breastplate decorated with jewels worn by Aaron, the most high priest of the Hebrews. It had 12 jewels on it, and the amethyst was the third stone in the third row. In the New Testament, according to the Bible, the amethyst became the foundation of the Jerusalem. This description came out in Book of Revelations. Each gemstone was a symbol of something. The amethyst stood for being a gift of tongues and was filled with the desire to please God.[4]"

Amethyst is believed to protect one from poison and help ward off addictions.
Amethyst as a power stone is used to open spiritual and psychic centers. It is also an aid to meditation, especially when worn as a necklace.
In crystal healing amethyst is used for problems with blood and breathing. Many healers will wear several amethysts as well as place them on their client or have the person hold one.Amethysts are also believed to relieve headaches - gently rub across the forehead.
To prevent insomnia it is said one should place this stone under ones pillow - also to bring sweet dreams.
Placing several amethyst clusters, points and tumbled amethysts in a sunny window helps to heal negative energy in the home.
Because it is symbolic of sincerity, spiritual wisdom and piety and humility, amethyst is often thought of as the perfect stone symbol for the Age of Aquarius.

"Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust, after feldspar.
There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Especially in Europe and the Middle East, varieties of quartz have been since antiquity the most commonly used minerals in the making of jewelry and hardstone carvings.
Quartz belongs to the trigonal crystal system. The ideal crystal shape is a six-sided prism terminating with six-sided pyramids at each end. In nature quartz crystals are often twinned, distorted, or so intergrown with adjacent crystals of quartz or other minerals as to only show part of this shape, or to lack obvious crystal faces altogether and appear massive. Well-formed crystals typically form in a 'bed' that has unconstrained growth into a void, but because the crystals must be attached at the other end to a matrix, only one termination pyramid is present. A quartz geode is such a situation where the void is approximately spherical in shape, lined with a bed of crystals pointing inward."
Pure quartz, traditionally called rock crystal (sometimes called clear quartz), is colorless and transparent (clear) or translucent, and has often been used for hardstone carvings, such as the Lothair Crystal. Common colored varieties include citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, milky quartz, and others. Quartz goes by an array of different names. .. Other opaque gemstone varieties of quartz, or mixed rocks including quartz, often including contrasting bands or patterns of color, are agate, sard, onyx, carnelian, heliotrope, and jasper.
Rose quartz is a type of quartz which exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the massive material.
"Rose quartz is a type of quartz which exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese, in the massive material. Some rose quartz contains microscopic rutile needles which produces an asterism in transmitted light. Recent X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the color is due to thin microscopic fibers of possibly dumortierite within the massive quartz.[10]
The color in crystals is apparently photosensitive and subject to fading.
Rose quartz is not popular as a gem it is generally too clouded by impurities to be suitable for that purpose. Rose quartz is more often carved into figures such as people or hearts. Hearts are commonly found because rose quartz is pink and an affordable mineral."

Rose quartz is calming and associated with love and self-love. It is used to heal emotions, strengthen the heart and help with circulation. It is also used to remove negativity from places where people interact - at home, work, etc.
Pink quartz is thought to remove electromagnetic radiation and is good to put near computers and TV's .The quartz because it absorbs negative energy needs to be cleansed regularly.

Citrine is associated with success, money, luck and protection. Iy is sometimes called the "merchants stone" - it is suggested that merchants should keep one in their cash registers.
In healing citrine is associated with the solar plexus or third chakra, the cleansing of the digestive and endocrine systems,It is a calming stone which is said to help open the mind to new thoughts and bring about clarity of thought. Citrine is believed to bring joy and love to its owner.
