This abstract art quilt was all hand stitched - appliqued/ pieced, embroidered and quilted. I love collecting pieces of fabric, grouping them together and moving them around til I become inspired. My great aunt and my mom taught me to sew and embroider when I was very young, and I have always loved the old fashioned ,hands on approach to any kind of stitchery. I don't do a lot of quilting but when I do it is all my own designs.
Once again my love of the desert
Southwest inspired my design for "Desert Dreaming" .When you're in the mountains or any remote area away from city lights the night sky is so much different than what I grew up used near New York City. And under a full moon everything looks so magical. These colors and batik prints (mixed with other fabrics like the leopard print I used for the sand, earth) seemed to convey that feeling to me.

My work reflects my love of nature, with strong influences from trips to the desert Southwest and from time spent with many Native American friends and teachers. Some of my paintings are planned, such as a specific landscape .
