This slightly abstract watercolor painting of a Dreamcatcher ( dream catcher) blowing in the Wind is done on Masa paper,a form of rice paper that gives the crinkly look from all the little lines and fibers in it. It is very delicate and takes the paint much differently than regular watercolor paper.

A dreamcatcher (dream catcher) is a hoop - traditionally made of willow and woven with a spider web like web - often decorated with fetishes,beads,personal objects or arrowheads, and having feathers hanging from it - believed by many Native American peoples to protect the dreamer. The dreamcather would catch all the dreams - both good and bad in the web, the good dreams would flow through the center hole and slide down the feathers to the dreamer and the bad dreams where caught in the web and burned off by the morning light ( as I was taught by my Cree and Ojibwe mentors) Traditionally stone/crystal beads were not used) Should you want a dreamcatcher - please honor the culture of the First Nations and purchase a traditional one (not one made in a foreign country).
