Description
This is an imagined still life or scene of woven Indian blankets, earthenware jars and drums.I own both of the drums - the large Grandfather or Thunder drum I purchased at the Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico and the smaller drum I found in Gallop. It was rather awkward taking these two drums on the plane home but I refused to have them in the baggage compartment! The rattle by the Grandfather drum was made for me by a friend (who is part Cherokee) as a thank you for taking her to Sedona,Arizona with me on a different trip. I use the rattle as a drum beater at times. The large Grandfather drum is also called a Thunder drum because of it's deep tone,The tone of the drums changes depending on the heat and humidity. My love of the southwest inspired this painting.
Watermark will not appear on prints!
