Description
This is a cropped section of my watercolor painting Suns Last Rays. The last rays of a beautiful sunset light the sky and lend their colors to the mountains and field of sunflowers."Pink sky at night, sailor's delight..." and the promise of a beautiful tomorrow - I always remember my parents saying that and now I say it to my grandchildren.
These sunflowers, named for the sun because of their large size, shape and coloring, are at the end of their glory days. Even though past their prime these sunflowers are full of color, character and a unique beauty (unfortunately not appreciated by so many).Once tall and reaching for the sun they are now bent ,these sunflowers petals are drooping and their bright golden colors are fading. The purpose of these beautiful flowers is fulfilled - they have delighted young and old alike and now their heads are full of seeds ready to eat. This sweet little bluebird rests atop one flower head looking admiringly up at the next sunflower. To him it is a thing of beauty and bounty.
