Description
This colorful rooster will bring a touch of country to brighten any room.
The barnyard boss, rooster cock or cockerel is considered by almost all cultures to be a symbol of illumination - believed to dispell evil spirits just as the sun chased away the darkness of the night. It is the 10th symbol of the Chinese zodiac. In dreams rooster is often considered a wake up call.
Roosting is the act of perching above the ground to sleep at night (done by both sexes). Roosters have a shrill call to warn of danger. They also perch in elevated areas during the day to keep a watchful eye on their hens and will attack any other rooster entering their territory. The name "rooster" is from the United States and is used throughout North America, Australia and New Zealand. The terms cock and cockerel - which denotes a young bird - are used in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
