My impressions of a horno or outdoor oven in an Southwest adobe village scene. Firewood is stacked alongside the oven ,a bucket of water and wooden bakers paddle are on hand. Horno (pronounced Awr-no ) or orno (Spanish) is an adobe outdoor oven originally used by early settlers and Native Americans in the western part of the U.S. in Arizona and New Mexico they are still in use in some areas. A horno is basically a wood fired earthen oven usually made of adobe bricks which are covered with a thin plaster of mud.
