Artist's Description
Olana Impressions Autumn is my original watercolor done from one of my photographs. Olana NY State Historic Site is the home/ studio and estate of Frederic Erwin Church , famous Hudson River School artist. It was made a National Historic Landmark in 1965. The house is also a prime example of Orientalist architecture. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation owns and operates the 250 acre estate. The main building , an architectural masterpiece, was designed by architect Calvert Vaux who worked closely with Frederic Church. The villa is a mixture of Victorian, Persian and Moorish styles made of stone and brick and polychrome- stenciled. Church designed the stencils based on designs seen during his travels in the Middle East. The stencils are also inside the house. The interior of the villa remains much as it was during Church's lifetime. It is decorated with exotic furnishings, and many objects from his travels around the world. There are also some 40 pai...

I have been painting and crafting ever since I can remember. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques in watercolor, and mixing watercolor with other mediums. Painting is a meditation to me - it brings me peace and joy.,and has been a healing therapy since I became disabled. I love sharing my art with my grandchildren and inspiring others to try their hand at painting! Everything has the potential to become a painting.Some paintings are planned,and sometimes I let the flow of paint guide my imagination!
